Yellowstone River

Friday, September 23, 2016

The whole Yellowstone River is finally all open again, however it is completely brown. The heavy rain in Yellowstone Park is keeping it dirty and it looks like the mud will continue through tomorrow 9/24. There is still some hopper fishing, but the colder weather has brought out some of the smaller dark dry flies. The Adams wulff has been doing well, along with a regular adams, baetis dry flies, and any general attractor will have success. As always, bring your prince nymphs, hare's ear nymphs, lightning bugs, copper johns, and beadhead pheasant tails (particularly black pheasant tails). We're right on the cusp of streamer season and those browns have started to spawn and become more active, all wollybuggers will catch fish!
