Lower Madison River (Below Ennis Lake)

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Attention!!!! the Montana state fish and game has placed hoot-owl restrictions on the Madison river from Ennis dam to the Missouri river headwaters beginning at 2:00PM, Thursday, June 30th. This means there is no fishing on this piece of water from 2:00PM till midnight everyday due to water temps reaching 71 degrees. Fishing on the lower is still good, the river is clear and with steady flows, caddis and pmds are out for the majority of the day  the occassional baetis and some yellow sallies. Most of the success has come using a dry fly with a dropper rig; we recommend fishing early.
